Sok Chan

Sok Chan is a Cambodian woman who is restricted to a wheelchair because of an untreated injury at age 12. Even with this challenge, she uses native fabric to sew beautiful purses and wallets as a way of supporting her two sons. Since connecting with her in 2012, Elevita has been able to help Sok Chan get electricity and transportation, resolve medical issues, and recover from natural disasters. With Elevita's support she has also been able to start a sewing cooperative that helps other artisans in similar circumstances. Sok Chan is very grateful to be an Elevita artisan, as this enables her to be self-reliant in spite of her physical handicap.
