Elsa, a 77-year-old artisan from the inner city of Sorsogon, Philippines, is the heart of her community. As the primary caregiver for her two grandsons, ages 8 and 10, Elsa doesn’t let her age slow her down. She has brought together five other mothers in her neighborhood, creating a small but powerful cooperative that crafts beautiful trivets and other handmade products. Elsa purchases materials, oversees quality, and manages payments so her team can earn steady income.
